Reducing high sick leave with interactive films

About IA

The agreement for inclusive working conditions ("Inkluderende Arbeidsliv") is a three party agreement between Norwegian employer organizations, worker organizations and the government. The intention of the agreement is to make working conditions better for all parties, and one of the most important goals is to reduce the level of sick leave. NHO, LO, YS, Akademikerne, Spekter, VIRKE, KS, Unio, and the Department of Administration are the participants behind the agreement.

Our challenge

We were given the challenge to make a website that could teach every leader, elected representative or employee what the IA-agreement is about. Most of the problems you experience at work, or in life for that matter, have no real right or wrong way to be solved. IA is to a large extent about these sort of problems, and we wanted to let our users experience such dilemmas from different points of view. So in addition to making an informative website about the agreement, we made three short interactive films - each one taking place at a different companies. One consultant company, a hair salon and a nursing home. Playing the roles were well known Norwegian actors like Janne Formoe, Kyrre Haugen Sydness and Sondre Krogtoft Larsen. The stories will take different – and sometimes unexpected turns depending on the choices you make.

Group mode

You can use the films in two different ways - either you go to the website as an individual and experience them, or you can use them in a group – like a meeting or a workshop at your workplace. It is suitable for small groups of 3-8 up to big groups with several hundred participants. We supply a program from 10 minutes to a 3-hour session depending on the users' needs.

During the session, you will discuss the actions and events in the movie - and then try to relate the discussion to your everyday work life by assigning specific and achievable tasks for improvements in your group or department. The system will follow up each member that has assigned tasks, and the goal is to take a small step further with IA. Everything is made to be as simple and real as possible - as well as being highly entertaining and useful.

The grand opening

This must be the biggest screen we have ever used in Hyper's history

The website inkluderende.no was officially opened September 27 by Minister of Labour, Hanne Bjurstrøm, with Norway's first interactive film premiere – in Norway's largest movie theater. A nearly full house were told to turn their mobile phones on before the movie started.

The opening day audience included the Minister of Labour, Hanne Bjurstrøm; Minister of Government Administration,Rigmor Aasrud; Head of LO, Roar Flåthen; Head of NHO, John G. Bernander; and 650 guests from business and work life. They all had to help determine the action and the outcome of the film by voting with SMS throughout the screening.

A short documentary about the premiere (Norwegian)

Hyper is behind the idea, concept and production of both the films and the website, and this is our biggest in-house movie production yet. NXC had contractual responsibility and participated in developing the concept in the early stages of the project.
